James O'Neill was born about 1780 in Co. Clare, Ireland. James married Bridget McMahon. Bridget was born about 1780 in Ballintlea, Kilfintinan pr, Clare, Ireland. She died before 1850. They had the following children:

 

    • Catherine O'Neill was born on 19 May 1805 in Cratloe Co Clare Ireland. She died in 1815 in Cratloe Co Clare Ireland. Sponsors: Eugene O'Neill and Bridget Ryan
    • John O'Neill was born on 22 May 1807 in Cratloe Co Clare Ireland. He died in 1808 in Cratloe Co Clare Ireland.

James Francis O'Neill was born on 25 Jun 1822 in Cratloe, Clare, Ireland (probably: see O'Neill of Craloe article). He died on 27 Apr 1895 in Broken Hill, Nsw, Australia. Death Certificate says born in Co Clare and in 1895 was in the colony for 59 years -- thus arrived in 1836, and being 65 years old, was born in 1830. Needs to have been born in 1822 -- eight years earlier. Not in Co Clare in 1830. James married Mary Catherine O'Reilly daughter of Cornelius O'Reilly and Anne McManus on 23 Dec 1858 in Nsw Australia. Mary was born in 1832 in Castlerahan, Co Cavan, Ireland. She died on 30 Apr 1909 in Broken Hill, Nsw, Australia. They had the following children:
    • Martin O'Neill was born on 18 Aug 1859 in North Deneilquin, Nsw Australia. He died after 1909 in Broken Hill, Nsw. Australia. 1910/1859
    • John O'Neill was born on 29 Jun 1862. He died on 10 Mar 1941.
    • James Francis O'Neill was born on 19 Oct 1864. He died on 21 Apr 1926.
